Stuck shed

My pastel just shed last night, but the only shed skin that came off was one the head/eyes and a couple inches on the neck. The rest if firmly stuck. When my girl has had an incomplete shed it's always been loose enough for me to peel it off piece by piece. His is very firmly stuck. Would a bath be my best option? What else can I do?

I gave my BP with a bad shed (very similar sounding situation, she only had head and neck come off as well) another 24 hours to see if she found a way to get it off, then soaked her for 20 and let her run through a warm, damp wash rag. Worked. Though it stressed both of us out.

I'd give it until tomorrow. Then a soak in lukewarm water (10-20 mins) and a damp towel should do the trick.

Damp warm pillow case with a washcloth in it was suggested and worked for me :) Just put her in and put her in her enclosure and leave her to try and get out for 30 mins, when you open the pillow case you should find the shed, less stressful then bathing

I had this same problem just a few days ago with my lesser. I tried soaking her for 20 minutes but the stuck shed was absolutely not coming off. I tried the water & towel in tub w/ holes trick but she just curled in a ball and wouldnt move around. I had to resort to soaking her in the bathtub for close to 60 minutes, twice. I used a damp towel like suggested to rub it off as well as using my hands to slowly peel the loose parts. It was probably pretty stressful for the snake but Im sure shes happier now. I havent tried the wet pillowcase method, but it sounds like it would work. Good luck !

I dislike this thread (for my snake, and for all the other owners who have a stuck shed) but am thankful for it. It's winter, and I'm trying EVERYTHING to make the humidity stay around 80%. Spraying her cypress a good deal, keeping a warm moist washcloth in her house for her to rub around.

I may have to resort to a bath tonight.

My Jack had the same issue except he got everything off except his head and neck. I swear he is lazy. I have soaked and used some zoo med stuff that moistens the skin. He still does not even try.

I finally had to soak him and physically had to do the work for myself. Lazy bastard LOL

He still has stuck eye caps. Still working on that one LOL

HAHAHA - OMG, I think I just figured out Banana. I'm trying to over-complicate the situation, but maybe it's like okcbrad55 says and she's just lazy - HA! :P
