That Ohio incident gave the HSUS Propaganda and Lobbying machine enough political ammo to last for years. And you can bet that they are going to milk it for all its worth, and then some, to keep those sympathetic donations coming in to fund their true agenda, that is now hidden.
The time for another petition and letter campaign may be fast approaching. Which reminds me, I need to renew my USARK membership this month...:gj:

That's why it's important for people to keep track of what their politicians and special interest groups are doing behind the scenes instead of just what is on Headline News, and take a more active role in communicating with their politicians when these situations arise.
That Ohio fiasco is not what is driving HSUS to push for this legislation. It just so happened that the timing of it played right into their hands, and because it was such a high profile incident, they are using it as their "excuse du jour" to gather support. Their ultimate goal is a total ban on pet ownership. They used to have it posted on their website, but they removed it a couple of years ago when it started attracting alot of negative publicity. If the truth be told, I imagine that HSUS was already in WV, long before the Ohio incident, lobbying and schmoozing some of the politicians to sway their support for this legislation. HSUS is famous for trying to sneek legislation through under the radar, so that it can't be opposed.

You can learn, study what's going on, help educate and when your 18 you can vote. I'm 37 and aside from my one vote and petition signature, its no different then what I can do to help fight this. Being a responsible owner helps also, look into joining a local herp society.
