Wiring Flex Watt in parallel?

Hey err'one,

I am attempting to buy some Flex Watt heat tape, but I'm a little confused...
I know it's possible to wire up several segments in parallel: http://www.beanfarm.com/heating/Flexwatt_parallel.pdf

However, I have a question... can this be done using only the 6-foot electrical cord supplied with the tape? By this I mean, once I separate the two sides of the wire (joined by plastic), can I remove the plastic coating from the end, join that up to the first bit of Flex Watt. Then take off some plastic from the middle of the cord and wire that up to the second strip of Flex Watt?
Sorry if this is confusing, but if you look at the pdf above I think you'll understand what I'm getting at.

If your concerned with safety you might want to use a larger gauge wire.

You could do it that way but I'd recommend using a piece of wire between each length of tape. Then you'd have two wires connected to each side of the first piece.

yes you can this is how I have my PVC "rack" Wired. I didn't get any wires supplied with my PVC. I just used a generic extension cord from walmart. As long as it handles more wattage than is being put through it, it's fine. I think the extension cord I am using is good up to 1600 watts and it was the cheapest one. More than enough.. cheers.

I used electric heater cord but yes you can parallel wire it. I basically ran a long central wire and spliced into that and made a short run to the flexwatt

So I should just chop up the wire into separate lengths before wiring it?
