    Giving up on tanks...
I've tried everything to keep heat and humidity up in my tank. I spray the bedding, wet a towel and lay over the screen top, and then place another damp towel on top of that one. Leave just enough space to fit my CHE on the warm side. I put styrofoam around the tank to hold in the heat, which helps. I wet the towels/sprayed the bedding/filled the water bowl up last night, and the humidity was up to 60%. But when I got home after work, the humidity was TWENTY-SEVEN!!!!!! I was freaking out and put another bowl of water and did the regular stuff to up the humidity. I know that keeping humidity up in a tub is MUCH easier, but I know that keeping the ambients up in a cold house may be tough. Could I still set the CHE on top of the lid of a tub if I kept it on a dimmer?

I hear you. I recently gave up on my tank and moved my Drogo into the rack with the rest of my bp's. I was checking/rearranging things 3-5x a day! It was much easier in the summer time. If you are still keeping your bp in a tank, I suggest getting a space heater for that room, and have it close by- also you can try moving the water bowl closer to the warm end to raise the humidity, it worked for me. Good Luck! I know it can be a pain.

Water bowl is already on the hot side :( If I get a tub, what size should I get mine? He is about 6 months old and 2' long. How do I secure the lid down so I know without a doubt he won't get out? I dunno the weight, I'm on the way to wal-mart to get a set as I type.

    Good choice :gj:

I'm not sure what a CHE is, but I'm guessing it's a heat lamp? Those things get super hot so don't set it on the tub. You could hang it over the tub or set it up on something else to point at your tub. Otherwise, it would be a whole lot easier to just put a heat mat, or a UTH under the tub.

I would personally get a sweater sized tub at that size. You can switch to a 28qt as soon as he looks too cramped, or go with a 28qt now. I see a lot of people use binder clips or velcro zip ties.

Don't rest the CHE on the tub it will melt. But u can get the setup with a clamp or even a stand so it will heat it from above. U made the right choice. U and ur snakes will be much happier. Try a 32quart tub with a hide and water and u should be good

Okay good, I have a clamp that I can put on. I'll get some clips to put around the tub as well. Hopefully I can get the UTH off without it messing up

I LOVE this tub! Sterilite tub with locking lid. You can find it at WalMart and its really nice. Its a 34qt so its a perfect size for an adult BP. The handles on the end snap over the lid very effectively locking it into place.

Don't use a CHE with a tub - even on a dimmer, it'll get too hot for the plastic. If you turn the dimmer down too low, it won't effectively heat the tub. A UTH on a thermostat is the best way to heat an individual tub. Vypryz made a sticky thread on how to set up a tub and that's a good set of instructions to follow.

I set up my tub according to his directions and its worked really well. I used an Ultratherm UTH (6x11 size) from Reptile Basics on a t-stat for my tub and I have consistant ambient temps at 78-80 and hotspot at 92. No other heat source is used and my home is kept at about 74. :gj:
