Dark normal with het pied markers.

Sables have a kind of granite-y, flecked appearance. This guy is dark, but it's a clean dark.

I never say its normal because its been proven in this hobby that the most normal snakes can prove to be something else. All i can say is that it is not a sable. :gj:

this may be a dumb question but what would be the het pied markers? i'm not that great at identifying markers for het pied and stuff like that.

Het pied markers are on the side of the belly that run toward the tail. It's been said that het pieds carry these markers, but it's not 100%. Personally I don't believe them at all. But nevertheless some breeders stand by them.

With that said I have a 100% het normal :P with pied markings and I know shes nothing more than your typical normal ball python

For a typical ball that I find in a breeder extra bin at a show or in a Petstore.... No I wouldn't hold on to markers theory. If I bred a pied or het pied to something then I would. But I also have normals that are 100% normal that have "het pied markers" as well as a proven pied het that has them as well.

Eh, you never know, these days. Het males are often so low-priced that a lot of breeders just sell them as normals. There's little point in trying to sell poss het albinos, poss het ghosts, or poss het pied males as anything other than normal, either. As a result, they wind up being sold as pets.

A normal male could really carry any recessive gene. You're unlikely to ever find out about it, because who would breed a single gene poss het male to a known het female or visual female? 100% het males are so low-cost, it wouldn't make sense to breed a poss het male.
