    Sun Seed Pine Bedding?
Does anyone have experience with this specific product?

All I'm coming up with when I search google is "pine is bad, don't use it! etc"

I generally assumed that pine shavings for small animals will be kiln dried, but I'm really not sure if this is or not. I loaded it up in my cart to qualify for free shipping, but now that it's here it looks...not as good as the Petco brand I usually get.

Getting another brand isn't really an option right now either.

Did you contact the manufacturer or the place you bought it from? Never heard or used it before?

Some people report rats sneezing with pine and having lower life spans.

Others have used it for many years with no ill effects.

I'm not totally against using pine with rats.. so you may want to experiment and see if it works for you.

Thanks, but the question I am asking is about this specific brand of bedding. I already use pine with no bad effects, but I am worried that this brand may not be kiln dried.

I use Swift premium horse bedding. If the pine is kiln dried, and dust free, then it should be okay for rats. Horse bedding generally is made to be easy on the repiratory system for horses, so it would be the same for mice and rats. If you get a bag, stick your face in it and take a whiff. It should smell like pine, but not REALLY LIKE pine, not like sticking your face in a pine tree. The more gentle the smell, the better the bedding for your animals.

I have had no repiratory problems with my rats since using Swift. But to my knowledge it's only available in VA unless you order an entire pallet. :(

Whatever you buy it should be labled as 'kiln dried' and 'dust free', 'screened' would be a bonus. :)

I sell Sunseed products. Good kiln dried, low dust shavings... I also sell their aspen for the same reason.

Overall, you'll like it... Of course, just like any product, you will get occasional bags with some dust, etc, but I like the company, that's why I sell their products...
