So the guy who I bought my sons girl from has been feeding 20-24g rat pups every 5 days. The first rat I feed was 24g and she feed like I'd expect. She struck, coiled, waited till death and gulped right away. Today the rat pup they gave me was 32g. It looked pretty similar in size so I decided to give it a go. Anyway I put the open paper bag in for about 10 mins and she was definitely hungry cause she had come out of her hide and was smelling around. So anyway she struck, she killed, she tried to eat right away. That was when the unexpected happened though. She seemed to realize this was going to be a challenge so she released her bite and then dragged the rat into her hide. I saw her using her mouth to spin it around in the hide. At this point I felt it was best to shut the light off and leave her alone. Well 20 mins later I go look and no rat and what looks like a bulge in her belly. Anyway, I'm wondering if this has been seen by others, if it is ok for the snake, and if this means I should now try to feed closer to 32g rather than the 20-24g pups that have been feed previously!
