    GTP bite?
Okay. I feel kinda dumb for asking but! I got bitten by a baby gtp a little while back. it drew quite a bit of blood. (then again i am a bleeder)
Couple days later the bite seemed to heal and be just fine. but today. I noticed bumps exactly where the bites were. Kinda like i was breaking out in hives.

Is there something i am missing with a GTP? maybe something with their saliva?

I am not an owner or knowledgeable about them but they are just a nasty python bite. As with any bite a doctor should look just to make sure of any secondary infection. I honestly hope ur ok

I have never heard of a GTP to have anything in there saliva to cause that. Could be an underlying infection? Or, could just be two small scars? I know sometimes I will get weird scars for no specific reason. I actually cut my thumb open as an itty bitty baby, and still had a bump where it scared 15 years later.

All it could be is infection. Just make sure you keep it clean and sanitized.

how big is the bump? i had teeth stuck in my skin as a bite healed over. i could feel bumps and it ended up being teeth. youll want to get them out if they dont work themselves out first.

haha So. I talked to a vet real quick. just because she happen to walk into the shop.
I asked her and she said that it does not look like i have teeth in my arm. But They do have Bacteria in their saliva that my body is probably not used too. So the bite puffed out due to being irradiated.

Kinda explains why i also break out with rat scratches too. XD
    My skin is a wuss

Ifs the teeth left over in the skin when the snake bit and you pulled back.

The skin will heal over it, so you have to pull the scab off and squeeze out the teeth

No i was holding the snake. And i let it bit me. It bit and let go to try and run away but since i didn't let go to let it drop on the floor it turned back around to bite me several more times before i was able to walk back to it's enclosure.
So the snake bit and let go on it's own. no pulling back or yanking at all.

I think you meant "irritated". :D

But, yes, the vet you spoke to sounds like she knows what she's talking about. Bacteria under the skin can cause raised bumps like yours when the body's defenses try to get rid of the bacteria. Any reptile has a significant amount of bacteria in it's saliva and many many people have reactions to reptile bites. I had a few bumps like that when my BP bit me last year.

Keep the area clean and keep an antibacterial/triple antibiotic ointment on it and it should be fine. Make sure to see a doctor quickly though if red streaks begin to appear. I'm sure you'll be fine, but red streaks can indicate that the infection is entering the blood stream and you may need an antibiotic. If that happens, it would be important for a doctor to look at it right away. BUT I wouldn't worry - that isn't likely to happen, its just something to watch out for. :gj:
