Normal ball python issue!!!

Hey everyone...My Het Caramel Albino male killed his medium sized rat and just left it....why would a BP kill its food but not eat it?:confused:

My fire did that for awhile. Long story short, I determined that what I was feeding was to big for her. How big is ur bp and what size rat are you feeding?

Is your snake sick? My bumblebee killed and got it about halfway down before he got it back up, and gave up.

I agree with brdash. What is your snakes size and what size prey are you feeding him?

I would also say that prey item is most likely too large.

They generally do that if you stress them out when they are trying to eat. Next time you feed him once he coils, leave the room, shut off the lights, and keep it quiet. Also, if they let go they will usually pick it back up and eat it if you leave them alone. I think I've only had 2 instances where they coiled their prey then didn't eat it. If they coil they will eat.

I have a Cinnamon that does it once in a while. it is usually if I try to feed it to soon after the last feeding.

Sounds like a defensive strike. I have a really pissy cinny that did That a few times until she got used to her new Tub.
