Quality or size?

If YOU had to choose between a 40" LED TV and a 46" LCD tv, which would you choose? I personally would choose quality I think, but I want everyone else's opinion on this too. It just between those two specific ones. Let me know :D

Quality...a bigger picture isn't better if its a crappy picture..get the one with the better pic quality..

I think quality is better than size. Unless you have a really large livingroom a 46" is overkill, plus a 46" with poor quality is very obivous, you don't want that. I'd go with a 40 or 42", there will be a ton of Christmas sales coming up shortly and even through the holidays.

I would go with the LED I think but not all LED TV's are made the same. If you can see difference in the picture between the 2 TV's I would certainly Get the one with a better picture. 6 inches diagonally really isn't that big of a difference

really its hard to really tell the visual difference however i always say its best to go higher if you can so its longer between upgrades. Just like i do with Computers.

I think the room is about 110 sq. feet...I think it's slightly bigger though. The tv would be on the opposite wall of where we'd be watching it...

I would go with the better picture quality. Nothing worse than having a big tv with low resolution, it makes everything blurry, especially fast moving scenes. Make sure is 1080p and 120Htz. Anything below 1080 wont be as sharp and the 60Htz is what makes it blurry because the refresh time per second is twice as slow. Would you go for quality or size on a snake? :D

LED does not automatically mean higher quality than LCD. In fact, this is a bit of a misnomer because LED is LCD... You can get an LCD with LED backlighting, or an LCD with the more traditional fluorescent backlighting. Technically, the advantages of LED are that the TV can be MUCH thinner, they use less energy, and they maintain their brightness longer. In terms of picture quality, you can get a very high quality "LCD" (traditional fluorescent backlighting) or a very poor quality "LCD". You can get a very high quality LED, or a very poor quality LED.

If you're going to spend more than 1k on a TV, I'd do some more research on a site like CNET to see what works best for your situation. In my case, I did my research, then went to Best Buy and Costco and saw them with my own eyes. If you do the same, be sure to have the workers give you the remotes for the TV's you are comparing so that you can adjust picture settings!!! I cannot stress this enough. In my experience, the floor models in the stores are all over the map in terms of the settings they choose...

I am also in the market for a new TV so I've been doing a small amount of research on and off. Stay away from the lower quality LED LCD's. I've noticed "cones" of light in those from the unevenness of the lighting (LED LCD TVs are lit from the perimeter instead of the entire back hence why they can be thinner). For the same picture quality a regular LCD is going to be cheaper than an LED LCD. The LED LCD TVs will use less electricity, maintain brightness longer, and be thinner however. Definitely don't get anything that is 720p and the higher the refresh rate the better. Good luck.

LED. Hands down. No contest with all things being equal aside only a 6' difference.
