    Respiratory Infection
So, one of my rescue snakes does in fact have an RI and it spread to one other snake in my collection. The vet gave me enough meds for any of my snakes that might need it. My question, is what do I need to do to make sure that this thing is totally wiped out?

I'm assuming the vet cultured the bacteria?

I'm also assuming he gave you directions on how often and how long to dose the snakes?

That should be enough to kill it. If you have any other questions, your vet is really the best person to answer them.

It appears that the rescue infected your collection. Why wasn't the rescue properly quarantined?

Dosing with the right medication. Following the vet's directions. AND making sure ALL sick animals are kept completely separate from the rest of your collection. If you treat sick animals in the same rack/room with healthy ones, you are liable to find a ripple effect of illness...and it's possible for that illness to become resistant to the medication you started off with.

We got the antibiotics and complete instructions and such. I guess my real question is, is this an instance where I should clean and disinfect everyone's cages just to be on the safe side?

I sure would...immediately after I got the sick animals into a different room.

Quarantine those sick animals away from the rest of your snakes, or you're going to be spending more money, time and un-needed stress to your snakes.
