    Some people are stupid.
I was sitting in one of my classes the other day, when I overheard two students talking. Normally I don't ease-drop... but in my defense they were rather loud. One student was telling the other that he caught a Water Moccasin this morning in his yard and has it under a bucket with a rock on it.

At this point I was already face-palming... but when he told the guy that he planned to keep it as a pet... I full on wanted to bang my head on the desk.

I was unable able to keep quiet and told him that was a really, really bad idea and then asked him if he had ever cared or held a snake before. Of course his answer was no. I tried to reason with him about how bad of an idea it was, but apparently I don't know anything about handling venomous snakes or snakes in general. I only spent a two years working on antivenom research and rattlesnake rehabilitation in Arizona. :colbert:

Anybody want to take bets on how long it'll be before I am picking him up in the back of my ambulance?

I am in no way against people owning or caring for venomous snakes, I am just against uneducated people doing so. I feel bad for the snake, not him.

Yeah, but usually they take the hobby down with them.

Where are you from? I'm from Livorno, Italy. Moving to the US and then to Waco was a giant culture shock. Also... everybody and their mama tries to rob me. Lol.

They don't seem to understand that I am dirt poor, and going to school purely on scholarship.

I'm currently in Corpus Christi, which is horrible.... Talk about getting robbed! There were 4 home burglaries on our street the first 6 weeks we lived here, and this is a nicer neighborhood! But I'm moving back up to Austin next week. Austin is lovely, it certainly doesn't fit in with the rest of Texas. XD Honestly, it's the only place in this state I would consider living in long term.

I imagine coming from Italy to Texas would be a bit confusing! I was thrown for a loop when my family moved here from California, I can't imagine what it must be like coming from Europe.
