Skin Problem or Shedding Issue?
I have two ball pythons that have something going on with their skin. it started after their first shed for both of them. It almost looks as though the skin is still on a few scales but it isn't. the spots are dull in luster unlike the rest of the scales on the snakes which look glossy. The spots also have a rubbery feel to them. I have been putting wound healing oil on the spots on my Lemon Blast female for about a month and at first they seemed to be getting smaller, but now they are still there and they seem to only be in her brown spots. My Axanthic is just finishing his first shed and already i can see the spots on him. I am not sure what to think if anyone has any suggestions i am most definitely open. If someone knows how to upload pictures i would show you what im taking about. Thanks

Go to www.imageshack.us or photobucket and upload pictures for free. Then take the direct link and paste it in an ** code. (without the * astericks)

I would suggest not putting any more "wound healing oil" as you do not know what is wrong with them. It could be something as simple as a stuck shed. But I can't be sure until you get some pictures.

How is your humidity in your enclosure? What temps are you achieving? How were the sheds? Did it come off in one piece?

ok i will halt with the oil. i keep the humidity at about 60% using a reptifogger and a hygrotherm. my day time temps are ambient at 85f with the focal of my basking spot at about 96f. at night there is no basking spot and my ambient temps i allow to drop to 75f. Mowgli's shed was actually pretty good it was two large pieces. and Kaa's was a solid piece with the exception of just the tip of her tail which she got off in a separate piece.

Sounds pretty normal from the description, is it large patches or just single scales? A lot of bps end up getting scales like that at some point. I equate it with those white spots you get on your fingernails every once and awhile, and they usually disappear with the next shed. If it looks dangerously abnormal like a lump or scrape then that would be something to worry about, but the dull scales sound normal.

Feel free to post pics in any case, though. You can never be too careful, plus we love pics here!! :D
