when to switch to rats? got some pics!

Hey,



now been 3 weeks since i got my ball, been feeding on sundays after work around 3.

he/she has had nothing but success in the eat game.

now takes the mouse in about 8 seconds. He seems like he could start taking medium sized mice instead of small somewhat baby live mice.

would u consider switching to baby rat as soon as possible because of the chance he might not take to rats easy?

i no there are allot of post on here about switchign to rats i just thought id ask.

what else to do at 150 in the morning right?

Umm, he would have absolutely no problem whatsoever with a large adult mouse! He is quite skinny and his prey size needs to be moved up. Small mice are far too small for him. Even the smallest ball python hatchlings can be started on appropriate sized rats, usually rat fuzzies for your average hatchling. Mice are a waste of time in my opinion. You should be feeding him a prey item that is 10-15% of his body weight every 5 days. I would get an accurate weight on him and pick an appropriate sized rat.

I know it seems like it would be a lot for him to eat, but judging from your pics I see no problem with him eating a large adult mouse/weaned rat. You want his meal to leave a noticeable lump in his stomach after he eats. Most of us feed on a 5 day schedule for younger balls, which yours appears to be. Once they are a little older (some say 500g, some say a year old, etc) they usually move them on to a 7 day schedule.
