Help!!!

Will a deferent female rat take care of baby's that's not hers??

Most of mine usually do, but usually only when they have babies themselves. You don't want to give babies to a female that isn't already nursing.

I have 3 females in the tub and 2 of them had babies but my daughter thought she seen one of the moms eating her baby so I took her out and now I'm not sure if the other two will take care of them. What should I do??

I'm almost positive that the other two will step up to the plate and take of the babies. When we have more than one female in a tub that's had babies and we go to separate them, usually we don't know who's babies are who's so we just split the babies up between them. We've never had a problem.

When I introduce a pinkie that doesn't being to my females, I hold it for them and let them sniff it. Then I place it away from their liter. If they pick it up and carry it over to their liter, most of them do, then I know they will take care of it. Haven't had a problem yet.

Just looked in tube and there is a pinky alone to the side... what to do with it??

I foster babies all the time....
Just toss them in with a nursing mom(s).
I hold back 10-12 retired moms for this reason as well... They will continue to nurse babies long after they've stopped having them.

You can try tucking the pinkie in among the other pinks, in hopes it will pick up their smell. As long as they're nursing, I haven't had issues with mixed litters.

Sometimes pinks are just off to the side for no reason and mom will come get them soon, or they will crawl back.

Some moms just don't like strange babies though.
