snake in egg not moving. help!
So it's day 52 and I decided to cut open 1 of the six eggs. So I disovered a pastel in the egg I cut but it's not moving. Now i'm all worried and don't want to cut the rest. Is this normal? Shouldn't it be moving a little? Please give me some advice.

As long as it doesn't smell funky, your baby is probably fine. None of mine moved very much in the first day or two after cutting this year (cut day 54). Keep in mind that they wouldn't have had any room to move if you didn't cut, so it's probably natural.

Did you try poking them or poking the egg a little to see if he/she would move?

I thought one of my clutches had died a couple days after I cut them because they would just barely move. I thought one wasn't moving at all, but they all ended up being just fine. Snakes absolutely reek when they die, so if the eggs smell fine I would say they are still alive.

    Hi,

What temps did you incubate at?

89 degrees. Sometimes it will drop to 88 degrees and sometimes it will get as high as 90.5 but thats it. There is slight movement in the egg now. I think everything is going to be fine.

if you poke them (lightly) with a blunt object...they will wiggle.....if not it might be dead in the egg.

They may not move a whole lot while you are sitting there watching them. They will re-position themselves every so often so if you check daily you will see a different part of them sometimes the head, tail, side, etc. At least this is what I noticed with my clutches.

Like everyone else said if there is no funky smell you are good.
