Mama Got a Brand New Ball!!! DUW

Okay somebody needs to take my Craigslist privileges away from me. Tonight I came across yet another ad that I just couldn't say no to... though I think I had a darn good reason. The ad was for a two year old female ball python for a whopping $25. Firstly I thought, this cannot be a female. Secondly I thought, she's going to be in as bad of condition as Sally was in, if not worse.

Well she wasn't in bad condition, maybe a little skinny, but they were feeding her mice and not rats. Even more exciting was that I took the time to pop her and she is indeed a female. I was so excited to get home and weigh her. Baby girl is a whopping 1187 grams, almost there! This gal is just a stunner as far as appearances go. I am not sure if she's anything in the morph world, but she doesn't have the golden look of a normal to me. She is very light, almost creamy, with a lot of blushing... including blushing that goes all the way down her neck. Here's the pictures... tell me what you guys think. Just a nice looking normal or possibly something more?

She attracted a little attention from a couple kids outside, so I allowed them (after sanitizing their hands) to touch her back. She didn't seem to mind and it gave me a chance to educate the kids a little. :)

Normal, but a pretty girl :)

She almost looked fire-ish to me. Her coloring is so creamy colored and I recall someone mentioning that fires have that blushing that runs down the sides of their neck. Regardless, even if she is just a normal, I think she is truly a beautiful girl. For 20 bucks?! I feel super lucky. :D

20 bucks is a steal on an adult female that size, nice normal with semi reduced pattern

Nice find! I see you popped her to check the sex. I would recommend probing to be sure. Popping is only accurate in sexing males. Good luck with her, she looks great.

Well if the boy parts don't come out... then it isn't a boy lol. The guy said she had been probed before, I just wanted to pop her to be sure. I saw the glands, no hemipenes. Also she has the smallest little hooks I have ever seen lol. I know it doesn't really mean anything, but they are very dainty. I may take her to have her probed anyway, just in case.

not true. some are better at "resisting" than others! popping is a lot easier on smaller balls. CAN be done on bigger ones, but yeah if you have breeding plans for her, probe her for sure.

I agree, I can't reliably pop any of my larger males (400+g). Probing is the best way to sex the larger snakes.
