Update on Bp :]
Being away at college I always get nervous to leave my bp with my parents. But after 4 months away at school, all is well.
They are constantly checking his temps and what not, keeping up his husbandry. I have a hydrofarm thermostat to regulate the heating pad. I have an accurite thermometer to regulate everything else. So all is well :]
He has been off feed for a couple months. But he did the same last year. I figure due to breeding.
In the past four months he has managed to gain almost 500 grams! Which is amazing. He is now around 1800 grams.
But I have a few questions. I haven't ever had an adult bp at this weight. And I know as they get older their shed cycles are farther apart. But he was in the blue two weeks ago and still hasn't shed. Is that normal? I'm so used to them shedding after about a week of being in blue.
His humidity is great, and he gets "baths" or soaks every couple weeks.
Also... his tank has mites... wood mites. They have been an issue in the past before. I have cleaned his tank so many times and baked the wood in his tank many times. Even my parents have. So why wont the wood mites go away?

My big girl goes blue for 2-3 weeks before she actually sheds. As for the mites I would switch away from your supplier especially if its a reoccurring issue. Just because the mites are wood mites doesn't mean that they can't effect the health of the animal. Having mites in the enclosure is very stressful for an animal and could explain both the fasting and the prolonged shed.. I would treat the enclosure with PAM and switch him to a new substrate.
Hope this helps and good luck,
Chris.

Thank you very much :]
I use paper towel as substrate but do put some aspen in there in his hide on the warm side. I def think the aspen was the culprit. I bought some more aspen tonight from a different store.I baked his wood. And cleaned his tank. So all is well :]
He shed tonight as well. A success, all in one piece.
I grabbed the shed and measured it at 55 inches. Or 4 ft. 7 inches.
He just keeps growing and growing. Even being off feed :O
In the past 4 months he has:
grown 7 inches
gained almost 500 grams.
For a male I'd say he is getting pretty big.
