    new mom suffocated her babies?!
    yea.. very gory horrid..

20 (after moms culled some pinkies) babies from 2 different litters
    2 weeks later there were 5 D:

babies were disappearing from a 1-2 tank, i didnt know which mom it was so i separated them for one night leaving 1 baby with each of the moms and the dad overnight . mom#1's baby was fine. dads was. Mom#2 had suffocated.. not eaten it.
    It is mom#2's first litter

Is this weird behavior? should i cull her? i want to but if you guys think she wont do it again i will keep her in a separate tank.

Maybe since it's her first litter she's jus doing it wrong. I don't know much about rats and mice, but my sister had two hamsters when she was young, she got them for free. We found out later that one was a female, and seperated them, but we also found out that she was pregnant and where expecting babies. The next day we found all the little pinkies but she had killed them all. I don't know why they do it, but it happened!

Yeah a lot of them will eat or kill their first litter. She should figure it out. If her next litter gets murdered than cull her.

    Cheers.

Moving moms and pinks will actually stress them even more... Just leave them together.
If they still eat or kill pinks after a couple of litters, try again with different stock...
