    Offputting name?
    Hey there people,

I'm planning on breeding within a year or so, but obviously can't keep them all as pets, so I'll have to move some and help grow the hobby. There is only one problem I can really see.

    My name.

Well username really. I've used Virus in practically every site I've gone to. Every reptile site, not to mention various other sites and communites that are unrelated all recognize me as Virus.

The fun part is, would a breeder that has Virus in the title bother you? What about when I set up a website? I suppose I wouldn't be able to pull in random business, but people would find their way to me through bp.net and Kingsnake. Eventually I believe I could pull enough of a reputation to overcome any potential issues.

    Any thoughts? Comments? Food?

Can't see why. Some breeders have some downright silly usernames or even 'breeder names' they're known by. Doesn't seem to hurt them.

    Virus
Thanks. I was talking about this to a couple of people, though they aren't in tune with the reptile community, more of a general viewpoint of being apprehensive to the word 'Virus'.

Virus is not really a horrible thing to be called, in my eyes.
You could go off on the spin of ... your animals are like viruses, because you can't get them to go away and you keep getting more. Or something.

Anyway, It's better than Herbies herpies or something like that. Lol.

    Virus
Haha, that's right. I'm starting an epidemic, and nobody can go without a little virus with them.:snake:

    :P

And you have to love how questionable the terms for our hobby can be.

you've got a line on a pretty good list of names and slogans to go along with virus and i know i would remember a name like that. virus is way better than the name and slogan i came up with for my future business. my roommate just shook his head in disappointment and walked away when he heard it. as long as you dont that kinda reaction i think your ok.

Currently the snake keeping is not main stream, gaining popularity but still not in the main stream. Look around, many, perhaps most don't follow the masses. I have never been thought of as 'mainstream , average ect.' I believe that if this were mainstream and you were trying to sell vaccumns or something it would be a problem. You are not and the client bases is not the average clientell I don't believe snake market currently would be bothered. Maybe in a few years that might have to be re-visited but I think not. Looking at the market and who is buying the animals it is not likely an issue.

If I can buy a snake from someone call himself an Evil Morph God, I have no problem with buying from someone called Virus!
