controlling multiple uth's

im working on establishing a rack system and was gathering ideas on here, im going to go with the tub setup with the uth under it for all my tubs in the rack. my question is what thermostat would i need to control about 15 uth's or is there a easier way?

i like that but im not sure if you could run a power strip to that and it would control several uth's or not..

i know this wont help, but i actually need two of these, so i would hope so, because im getting a corn snake soon, and im hoping this will atleast control two uths.

I just picked up the same unit the hydrofarm digital heat mat tstat. it can handle up to 1000 watts so I see not problem running a few mats on it as long as you don't exceed 1000 watts. most UTH are 16-24 watts I believe. the only problem is the unit only has one prob.

thats great to know, but yea the one probe might be an issue or might not be depending if youre using all the same size uth's :confused:

This is a side question based on this thread : I thought UTHs say they are for glass tanks and not to use on plastic. I would gladly accept being wrong....as my rack system is already set up with back heat. UTH would have solved my issue that I posted a couple weeks ago...raised floor/walls not getting direct contact with heat tape.

im ordering one of those tomorrow as well.. i had seen a tub setup using uth's on this site under bp husbandry (one of the sticky's) so im sure it doesnt have any bad effect on the plastic but i am open to be corrected.

Gilly are you planning on using a on off t-stat for an incubator? Most suggest that a proportional unit as a better option.

OP typically racks use either flex watt or cable I think that UTH's would get quite expensive as well. I guess a hydrofarm would be ok for a rack ... there is a cool knot in my stomach saying this, I am not sure a am 100% behind that. I guess it would be ok but I feel much more comfortable suggesting a proportional unit. I can't say I have found anything much wrong with the hydrofarms other than the probe accuracy is horrendous, and it is slow to respond in cool conditions although as we are talking a rack that usually isn't much of an issue as they typically are in controlled spaces. I would however suggest you give serious thought to a failsafe t-stat. All too often probes get pulled off in racks for one reason or another and a fail safe protects the snakes in the rack from calamity.
