Breeders

Hello, I just signed up, but have been reading for a few days now. I am really enjoying these forums, but anyway. I am looking to get a ball soon. I have had them in the past, but it has been a couple years since I last had one. I am looking to get one from a breeder. I know I want a female, but color isn't important. I am not looking to breed, I don't have the room here. Maybe in a few years. A local breeder would be best, anyone know any in eastern PA or south Jersey? I have looked at a couple sites, but most of the snakes that are listed are out of my price range.

I don't know of any local breeders in your area, but my go-to for more snakes is Kingsnake Classifieds and Fauna Classifieds. Before making any purchase though make sure you check references in Fauna's Board of Inquiry (just search the breeder's/seller's name).

There are a TON of snakes on there, some very affordable (depending on what you're looking for). If you need something shipped though keep in mind you'll probably be paying ~$50 for shipping costs if the price isn't already marked "shipped".

Thanks, I have already looked at kingsnake, and browsed faunaclassifieds. I am just looking for a pet, most of the snakes listed are hundreds or more. While I would like one of the nice morphs, I just can't do it. I know that in my price range I am probably only going to find normals, and that is fine. Most of the post I saw are for morphs or hets. But I am going to keep looking through anyway, maybe I will get lucky. I did see some nice normals listed on NERD's website for 100 shipped. Has anyone gotten any snakes from them? I know they are one of the bigger names. I would like to avoid shipping if possible. I have had geckos shipped to me before, the Fed ex driver shook the box while asking me what was in it. :confused: :mad:

^ Try Lynn and Boas and Balls, she has some normals at $25 for males and $35 for females (got a nice little boy from her, and IMO he's a high quality normal) and shipping was flat rate at $50.

If buying a normal, i'd look on CL or even go to your nearest reptile store. $100 for a normal hatchling is ridiculous.

Thanks, they have some nice balls there. As for local shops, there is petco, petsmart and two smaller shops. One is a fish store that just started carrying reptiles. They want $80 for unsexed snakes. The other store I got a baby ball from before and it died within a couple of days. The reptile guy there is a :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:, they lost my business. He has that 'your a girl so you can't possibly know anything about reptiles' attitude. When I bought the ball he wouldn't talk to me, he kept asking my boyfriend about our set up, even though my BF told him that the snake was for me and he didn't know anything about them. I will check out Craigslist, thanks for the reminder.
