Couple hoggy questions

I've been looking into hogs for a while, but never really looked to deeply as I had my balls, ect. Well as most of you know I had to give up my balls for the time being, so I am going to try and work with some smaller colubrids instead. I don't want just plain jane normals if I get into hogs, but with the price on every morph I'll have to buy hets and make my own. My questions are:

I see both Anery and Axanthic....are they both the same thing in the hog world? They both end up making snows when pair with anery/axanthic het albinos.

and two

Are 100% het Anery/Axanthic a hot commodity? I can't seem to find any anywhere.

Anery and axantic are the same in hog world. I have seen males everywhere though, its the females I am having a hell of a time finding. I am just getting into hogs to and also am settling for hets.

For some reason a lot of the breeders use it interchangeably. From what I understand there are no anery Hogs yet.

I'm not even sure I know 100% what an anery animal is?

Anery and axanthic have different meanings biologically (each refers to the lack of a particular color pigment). However, they currently refer to the same hogs. I've read some forum posts elsewhere saying that anerys should be called axanthics as it woud be more scientifically accurate. In any case, anerys/axanthics are black & white snakes and are pretty sweet. My favorite color morph so far. I think the hets can be tough to find as they still aren't that common and like a previous poster said females are even harder to find. Hogs are a great choice. And if you are looking for a smaller colubrid, they are an even better choice.

Another thought on your second question. I could be wrong, but it also seems like the hog breeders don't advertise as heavily or update their websites as often as BP breeders do. I browse classifieds for both and it is a trend I think I've noticed. So there may also be hets available that just aren't advertised, so you may need to contact the breeders directly. Good luck! Axanthic hogs and hets are a hot commodity for good reason. They're popular! It's not hard to see how pretty they are and realize that everyone who likes hogs probably likes the axanthics.

Because right now the recessive morphs far outnumber the sole non-recessive morph (anacondas), you're pretty much guaranteed to be working with hets if you want to work with hogs.

My entry into hogs was with a normal female and an albino male with great orange coloration. Even though I'll be working with hets, I'm going to try to avoid producing poss. hets if I can.

I think it's just because no one is making plain hets with them. Ever notice that almost every axanthic available is possible het albino? It's the same thing with the hets. Het axanthics don't come up often, but het snows can be found rather easily.

I do notice that. Just like very minimal amount of females showing up.
