New pastel just did something FREAKY!

So this is weird... My new pastel just did something really strange. He was stretched all the way out, then started jerking the front half of his body back and worth. While doing it, he opened his mouth, and was making what I can best describe as a roaring / growling sound. Like, really loud. I heard it over the tv, and when I came to look, that's what he was doing.

I took him out and checked him over... No signs of RI or anything else. Breathing completely normal. He's completely calm now, just hanging out wrapped around my neck. I don't think he was trying to regurge. I haven't fed him yet, and the shop said he last ate a week ago.

So yeah... I have no clue. Has anyone ever seen this?

With no signs of RI, the only thing that I can think of is either something may have startled him and he was hissing, or, and I'm serious here,the noise you heard was a fart. They can be quite loud with those...

lol... A fart. :P It's a possibility I suppose. Ha!

I'm pretty sure it was coming from his mouth though. You're right, maybe something just freaked him out. It was no hiss though... If I didn't know better, I could swear it sounded like a roar. Startled the crap out of me.

Maybe a stretch and burp/yawn lol never heard of ball python doing this or any other snake now that I think of it lol. :confused:

We have experienced the "Roar" and the snakes in question were throwing around the front half of their body with mouth open. That roar was not from their mouth though and was followed by an explosion of poo.

It was louder than the Tv, scared the dog, scared Corey and I. You should have seen the three of us rushing over to investigate a snake fart. That was followed by "OHMYGOSH! It's everywhere!"

my guys fart...a lot! i kind of think theyre mocking me :oops:

my male pastel gets pretty jumpy sometimes. i leave him alone and sure enough..he lets out a pretty impressive fart. after that hes as chill as he ever gets. weird but you all know how good a good fart feels. :D

And we all know the faces we guys like to make when we do that. I guess some "guy things" hold true regardless of the species... :rofl:

are you sure the sound was coming from his mouth? I don't think snakes have the vocal chords necessary to do what you just described...
