help human heat blanket wire ?
hey everyone ! i took all the wiring out of a functional heat blanket then i plugged the wire in to test and see how warm it got and i had it on the highest setting and i felt it getting warm (i thought ok good its working ) so i left the room for maybe 10 minuites and the thing was not working anymore (did it over heat ?) and the thermostat on it says auto shut off so then i tried pressing the on and off button and nothing happened. so i tried un plugging and plugging it in again ... again nothing happened so i tried a few other outlets in the house and still nothing ..... has anyone had this problem ? or anyone who knows circuits very well ? could it be a fuse inside ? i can post pics of the circuit or any connections inside if needed ?
is the heat wire still useable ? please help i would like to still use it it is a really nice heat wire set up

It does sound as though it has tripped an internal circuit breaker or fuse. Is there any sign of a reset on the thermostat?

I wouldn't think taking the wire out of the blanket would cause this though. Possible a wire got pulled out of its connection?

Resistance wire, to me , is the best kept secret for heating reptile enclosures. If done properly it would be much safer than heat tape. There are a lot of calculations in order to get the correct wire gauge, length and heat output.

I'd love to see a picture of the wire.

Don't be cheap with your reptile and the fact your home could burn.

    Buy the proper hardware
