Feeding Rat Pup to Adult BP?!!!!!!!?
I was on youtube last night and saw some idiot feeding a rat pup to an adult BP. :O First off it was cruel because becasue the BP couldn't even constrict it because it was so small so it basically bit into the pup and knawed on it while it was still alive. Second, who on earth would feed a pup to an adult BP? The BP had to still be starving after that meal. Anyway, I gave it to this idiot good! Just wanted to share on this ridiculous youtube vid...

Im assuming when you mean "adult" you mean fully grown adult, right? In which case feeding a rat pup would be pretty darn stupid lol. In some cases, an adult bp can be really undersized due to not being fed at the beginning of its life. My three year old female bp is little over 31 inches, she looks healthy but is just extremely small. She was fed rat pups all her life until I took her in. She's moved up to small rats right now, but I seriously doubt she's going to get that much bigger. And yea back to your point, ignorant pet owners

If the snake hadn't been gnawing on the rat pup, I see no problem with it. Granted, that's too small of a meal, but if it's all you got, it's all you got.

Well if that's the persons excuse.. "that's all I could get", than it's a poor excuse!! If you can't find the proper meal for your BP in your area, then you should think twice about getting one. That's just my opinion.

I have to say that I have already fed a live rat pup to my male normal once. My male is a little over a year old. Now, before you jump on me, let me explain why I had to do this. My male normal went off feed for 43 days and would not eat small rats or mice of any kind. I had to give him a live rat pup to get him eating for me again. Mind you, I only did this one time.

I can totally respect that. And there is nothing wrong with that. If this person did this for the same reason I think he should have explained himself before the feeding. Some people may look at it the same way that I did and jump the gun. I didn't check out his other comments, but I'm sure I wasn't the only one who got on him about his broadcast.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to the same or even use a small mouse hopper to get my Fire eating again.

It's apparently become timid and afraid of 'lively' adult mice after the attempted, unsuccessful F/T switch.

I need to rebuild the snake's confidence and desire to eat and although I'm loathe to do it, now, considering what the OP wrote, I'm going to have to do something just like that.

    :(

Personally jumping the gun can make you look silly...

I just sold a 2000+ gram lesser female that ate hundreds of rat pups last year, was it wrong?
It also ate weanlings a lot, wrong again?

Maybe just maybe you were completely out of line....I believe you were.

    Does she look malnourished?

Obviously it didn't get that big by feeding on one rat pup a week. Unless he bought him from somebody he had to be feeding larger rats or more than one. How do you know what the situation is by watching one video? Maybe that's all he had. Maybe he fed him five or more rat pups to be sufficient and only recorded the first one?
