Dumeril's ground boa question
This may be a dumb question but, I was watching swamp wars on animal planet, and they found one that had escaped/been released. first thing i said to myself was it was a dumeril's, but the guy on the show called it a Madagascar.
I know they are from Madagascar, but my question is, is there a difference between a dumeril's ground boa and a Madagascar ground boa if so, how can you tell the difference?
Thanks!

Just for confirmation from what i can tell from the picture, the Dumerils is brighter with more defined markings, and the Madagascar is darker with a stripe-ish marking down the center of the back?

Not necessarily. The coloration can vary in both snakes. I look at the side markings. On a Dumerils (Acrantophis Dumerili) the black side markings are more of a " + " shape, and will usually go higher up, or join, across the back. The Madagascar Ground Boa (Acrantophis Madagascariensis), the black side markings are more " - " shape, and do not go up across the back.

Also, note the big difference in head shape:
