Little girl in trouble. Advice appreciated.

My boss has a 6 month old little girl he"s been taking care of. He was afraid she wasnt going to make it because she didnt look to healthy and decided to try and rehabilitate her. She has a slew of problems though.

1)I weighed her about 2 weeks ago, and at that time she weighed 47 Grams. She is six months old. She should be into her hundreds by now. Ive double checked husbandry and everything seems pretty spot on. Great substrate, plenty of hides, not too much space, meals are offered in the enclosure, humidity is perfect, andI lent him my temp gun to double check temps. She just refuses to eat. She's taken three fuzzies and regurged the second one and from what I heard she ate at the end of last week. So hopefully she"ll start gaining weight but I feel thats dangerously low..

2) She definitely has RI. Her breathing is always heavy, and more often that not she is opening and closing her mouth to allow more air in. I think this may have been complicating eating. She would have to breathe through her nose, and if thats clogged..you get it. He upped her temps slightly and brought down humidity to aroung 30 percent to try and help dry up that mucus. I dont really know what else to do.


3) I [SUSPECT] parasites. The meals she has taken have been digested lightning quick. Also when she defecates, it comes out as a liquid with white brown and clear, very similar to bird poop. Ive heard it could be musking, but I havent been around them long enough to tell the difference. Either way, I have NO idea what to do about that.

She's such a sick little girl, and Id like to think she's on the mend but I cant tell if shes improving or what to do to help her improve.

Has he taken her to see a vet yet? Sounds like a trip to the vet is overdue.

If she has a respiratory infection she needs to see a certified Reptile vet. Which I'm going to be honest it's hard to find one, and even harder to find a good an reliable one in a lot of states. Our super pastel is battling a R.I. as we speak. He does nothing but hide and hasn't eaten in 2 months. You can't get a vet apportionment like a.s.a.p. and you think she could die from being starved, then force feed her.... but the draw back to that is it is extremely stressful on the snake, and even worse in her poor health it could make her worse. If you do want info on that, you'll have to ask someone else, in five years I've only had to force feed once And all I did was hand the man the food. She sounds absolutely horrible... and IM sorry to hear how bad of health she's in. Regardless of what I, or anyone else says, she needs to see a vet. Good luck.

On top of being extremely small she's sick, not good. Definitely get her to a qualified herp vet asap and hope for the best.

100% agree. Needs a vet ASAP. I've dealt with a few Ris with rescues I take in. They don't get better on their own. Often most snakes wont eat when they have one. And she needs a fecal check seriously as well.
I would start making appts. Now.

Already been said, but vet! Seems like you've already upped the temps, so not really sure what other "temporary" treatments can be done without seeing a vet. Medicine will help cure her RI, and once she isnt sick, she will probably be more inclined to eat. Best of luck, its really good youre trying to help this snake through this.

Justin Kobylka mentioned once that he changes the water and the water dish more frequently (few times a day) if his snakes are sick, because he doesnt want them contaminating and drinking the same water a few days in a row. I am by no means an expert, but just trying to give you any info that would help! Good luck
