For those of you who sell at shows

What do you do with the animals that don't sell? Do they go into QT?

No one? Or is this one just too common sense? :P

I would like to know this answer also because I would never bring one of my snakes into a show for fear of diseases.

What diseases are you worried about? I have never had any issues over the years doing shows. Airborne disease threat is not much of a threat. I dont let anyone handle anything unless they are buying. Plus anyone that is gonna hold an animal gets hit with hand sanitizer. So to your question the answer is no. I dont qt after a show. Never had an issue

Show exposure is always scary, and a real concern, even though we don't let folks "hold" the animals.

We Black Knight our table before setup, and throughout the show, once or twice a day.

Upon returning to the shop, we soak everything- to rehydrate as well as float off any potential mite hitchhikers. Soaking won't pull off all mites, but soaking for an hour and inspecting the water will give me the confidence that there are NO tag alongs with the animals.

After the soak, we Black Knight the animals before returning to cages.

This protocol has worked very well for us for decades. BK is harder to come by, especially since I had 20 stash cases (of 12 cans a case) go POP in a fire...

For folks that let attendees be more hands on with their animals, including kids and look-e-loos, I would strongly consider a quarantine.

I quarantine everything after a show, and if I am doing a few in a row I just keep them separated in a different room.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

I was wondering myself, since mites seem like a pretty easy thing to pick up at a show. I think that would be about the only thing I would really worry about unless people were holding their snakes in the same hand as one of mine-which wouldn't happen. So far I haven't sold at any shows, but one day in the next couple year I plan to get a table at a small show. It's always nice reading advice/practice tips from people with experience!

Yes every animal that comes home with me goes into The qt room. I Pam containers I use to bring them with me and then anyone that comes back hangs out in qt for up to a month if I should see any probable causes, longer. It never hurts to qt especially after shows.
