Getting a new rack and have a question
    Hey All,

So I am getting a rack this weekend and was wondering what is best to use for the substrate. Do I use liners, newspaper, or can I use aspen bedding?

It uses belly heat btw. Its the Iris 32 qu from RBI.

That's going to depend on you and what you want to use. I use newspaper cause it's cheap and easy to clean.

Ok so the belly heat does not matter? Was thinking thickness-wise...

i use newspaper on mine. if you use aspen you'll have to crank up the heat a little higher than with newspaper or something thinner. if you leave the t-stat at 92 on the outside of the tub, itll be 90 where the snake is touching on top of the substrate. if you use aspen, depending on how thick you make it itll be a few degrees cooler so you'll have to crank the temp up a couple more degrees to compensate. these numbers are jsut random BTW and just an example.

I use papertowels, cause they are quick and easy lol. Plus they are white so it's easy to pick out something that just does not belong.

You should be using a thermostat so it shouldn't matter what you are using for substrate. If you use aspen you will probably need to set your temps a little warmer than if you are using news paper.
