Another feeding question...!
I bought a small adult frozen rat in a box today. When I opened the box to thaw the rat, it was alot bigger than I had anticipated. So... it occured to me that perhaps it is actually time to up the size I give my boy. It is about the same size around as he is, but it's really long and pretty heavy. I usually give him pups (crawlers?). I've been giving him those for a while now and he is getting bigger!
Jackson is almost 8 months old. I know snakes vary in size, but what would you typically feed an average male of this age?
I'm going to weigh him tomorrow. I heard that one could feed a BP a rat 15% of their body weight, is this accurate?
Re: Another feeding question...!
I feed all my snakes weekly I just move the prey size to the lower end of the 10-15% as they are older. My 2 Juvies get close to 15% And Dezzie our Adult rescue get closer to 8-10% (she is eating small rats weekly):P
