Male Throwing Himself At A Female...Literally
So, is this a good thing? I put one of my girls in with my big male yesterday and he immediately started getting...violent. He started throw his body at her, slamming against the side on the enclosure so hard it shook it. This concerned me a little so I took her out cause I didn't want her getting hurt. Now she'd been in with him before just fine.

    So any ideas?

resex the female. That's male wrestling behavior. If she's definitely still a she, I guess just wait a couple weeks?

    X2! :gj:

This EXACT same thing happened to me; I thought I had a female cinny, turns out HE didn't like being put in with my Butter male!
Even if they have been together before, I have heard of males locking other males to establish dominance.

Agreed! Last time somebody had an issue like this the female turned out to be a male. I would definitely reprobe if I were you! Make sure it really is a gal, even if "she" has locked before... some boys will actually lock up with other boys!

The sex isn't in question. I have personally sexed them and as a back up I have a local breeder also sex them.

Could it be because she was just with another male and had his scent perhaps?

Could be. Your boy may very well have mistaken her as a competitor rather than a goal.

Also dont know if this would even matter but just a thought. Put the male with the female. He may be gage aggressive to an extreme with other snakes. I've personally never seen this but it's just a thought.

Hmmm, then maybe you could put the female in with another breeding female for a day or two? Maybe some extra female scent will calm the aggressive beast.

Well, I wish I could do that. But my male is a beast. My females are around 17-1800 but he's over 3000. The girls all fit fine in 28 gt tubs but he doesn't. So I have to move them in with him.

You wouldn't think a 3000 gram snake would need to establish dominance....
