Stand Question

Ok, this might be a stupid question, but I'm in the planning stage of building a stand for my snake tank and am stuck on which type of wood to use. I know that pine and cedar are toxic as bedding material, however, would it be toxic to them if the stand were made out of pine and sealed with a lacquer? I like the look of the pine, but not at the risk of harming my little guy. Thanks for any input.

If the lacquer is dry there will be no issues placing the tank on the pine.

Any wood that is sealed will be fine. Just as mentioned make sure the sealer is well dry usually I'd recommend in placing it in a well ventilated space at as high a temp as you can manage for at least 24 hours. Avoid 'spar' varnish as it never truly hardens and exterior deck products as they often contain insecticides and anti mould products that may out gas toxins.
