    Temperatures are so confusing
My son and I are noobs to this and have been researching how to care for our new BP named Rafe. I have read the care sheet and a few posts, but I am a bit confused about temperatures. We have a 10 gallon glass tank that the private store sold us for a great price. Our BP is a young one. The local shop set us up with cypress bedding, a lamp, water bowl, and a multi-level hide in the shape of a stump. I bought a UTH and a thermostat, as well as plexiglass cover. I also bought an IR bulb for heat. I know the temperature should be around 90 on one side and 80 on the cool side, but is that the surface temperature? Should the UTH be on one side and the lamp on another ( as I have it now), or both on the same side? I have place the thermostat probe for the UTH on the glass just about in the middle of the UTH with the temp set at 94º, what temp should it be set at? The ambient in our tank is around 80 in most spots measured with a digital thermometer. Humidity is staying around 65 +/- 10%. I need to purchase an Ir temp gun to measure the actual surface. Anyway, maybe I am just making this more complicated than it actually is.
