    Should I take the chance?
Ok here is my tough decision of the season. I have a female 100% het clown that is ready to go. I also have a male clown and a male pastel 50% ph het clown. Do you guys think I should try to prove out the 50% ph clown and possibly hit the pastel clown or do you think I should play it safe and breed her to the clown?

If you don't prove out that Pastel het Clown you have a bunch of 50% possible hets. Not really a big market for that. I'd breed the clown to her. You want to prove the Pastel on a visual Clown so that if you don't hit at least you have Pastel 100% hets and normal 100% hets. Just my opinion...

Man oh man thats one heck of a decision... Does the clown trait ever show any difference in the colors of a pastel at all? Does the person you got him from have any others that he already has proven out from the same clutch by chance that you can compare his color/pattern to? Along with others in the clutch that didn't prove out? I think other then just rolling the dice thats your best bet, just do a little research if possible.

Oh boy that is a tough one. I would lean towards breeding the clown to her just to be sure you hit on a clown, granted that's if the odds are with you. But then getting pastels that are 100%.... that is a tough one. I'm going to leave this one up to you!

Thanks all for the replies, I think im going to breed the clown to her. Breaking Balls makes a good point about a poor market for 50% ph's. Im not in this for the money but I never keep all the animals from a clutch, just what I need.

I would breed her to the Clown! You can always breed her next year to the Pastel! I would aim to get some Clowns first! At least you can prove that she is 100% het for sure so when you breed her to the pastel, you know she is not the problem!

    Wouldn't they be 66% and not 50%?
