First T!
Been thinking about picking up a tarantula for a while, and the local reptile shop lets a T breeder have a display with various species for sale. I've always loved the Suntiger they have on display, and they happened to have a few slings for sale. A little encouragement from the boyfriend and we picked one up! Don't know sex yet, gotta wait for size to happen, but Shere Khan is a fitting name either way :D

Really like the little acrylic cube it came in, and the breeder says he has bigger ones available once this guy out grows this one

Wow, congrats! That's a really nice first tarantula. LOL.

You guys didn't play around on your first :D Very nice choice!!! If you can get a clear shot of the underneath of your tarantula I might be able to give you an idea of what sex it might be.

That would be awesome! I'll keep an eye out for a good opportunity. Had a choice between two of the slings there and this one seemed a little less shy, so I'm hoping in the next few days we'll see some movement

Re: First T!
Congrats on the new T! And a Sun Tiger is as awesome choice for a T, they're beautiful T's. You may find yourself looking at more and more T's :P.

 Yeah... My boyfriend already has the breeder looking around for a Goliath birdeater, and I'm having to edit my reptile wish list to include a T section as well as other inverts

Congrats and welcome to the insanity:P I adore my little T and can't wait to add more.
:Edit: My husband wants a Goliath birdeater too! :Edit:

Go big or go home right? On the serious side though, the breeder is very experienced, and local, so I'm comfortable starting out with a more aggressive species with him around for questions and help. They're beautiful T's, but definitely one of the animals that are a "look and don't touch" sort of pet. I've heard that Brazilian black tarantulas tend to be pretty mellow compared to others, so that'll probably be the next pickup. Can't see it stopping there though, they're fascinating critters. What species of T you getting?
