Had my first escape today.

So, I'm currently in the process of transferring to another college, and this means that I'm moving to my house for a few weeks. Well, today, one of my complex neighbors (something very similar to a Coed dorm) called me in almost a state of panic. She told me that Volvagia was laying just right outside her door (she lives RIGHT next door), but I'm staying the night at my house and I really wasn't going to drive there, it was like 11 PM and it's a 4 hour drive, and my roommate was out.

Blah blah blah, I called my GF, who has keys to my apartment, and she opened up my door and another neighbor took in the BP and placed her in her tank again. My roommate just got there and called me Notifying me that she has no visual damage (no scratches, nor rips nor blood).

Whew


However I am terribly worried for 2 reasons:

1- the gap between the apartment door and the floor is like 1/4 inch or even less! Can BPs squeeze into tight places without getting hurt? She must have had squeezed since I was the last one to leave the apartment, and I remember saying goodbye (no judging... LOL) to Volvagia


2- it breaks my heart to see my BP trying to escape every now and then! I feel as if she isn't comfortable.
However the temps/humidity are spot on, and her tank is clean, I always clean poo/urates as soon as I see them. And I change the substrate/clean the tank every 3/4 weeks

sorry to hear about the escape, I am glad she was found :). Bp's will escape if given the opportunity, don't take it personally. If your husbandry is good than you have nothing to worry about. How did she escape?

Ummm, lemme see if I can find a pic of the lid I have on her tank, it'll be easier to explain

those 2 round holes have some kind of plastic lids, the ones you have to turn them for 1/2 a turn to remove (hope this makes sense, I couldn't find the right words, English isn't my first language). She managed to open one of those holes/vents and escaped thru there...

I'll be hot glueing those lids in place this afternoon when I get there. Besides that, the lids is ok, it locks in place real good

No thoughts on the possible damage to the BP because of the tight gap between the door and the floor?

BPs can squeeze themselves into some pretty tight spaces. I would just keep an eye on her and if she continues to eat and pass waste regularly, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yeah, I'm wondering how tight of a space a bp can squeeze through as well

Just checked on her, and she really has no physical damage to her

Did you see my thread on when my BP squeezed into the hole in my wall? And then into a smaller hole inside of that hole? And he's over 1800 grams. They can fit into some tiny places.
