    water dish location
I want to ask this, because I have heard a lot of different things.

Can the water dish be ontop of the UTH ?

I use a heat lamp on the hot side with the UTH. I want to make sure it wont make the water to hot for my snake.

How are you regulating those heat sources? I would think that having two heat sources on the hot side would make it too hot for the snake...

There's no problem leaving the water bowl over the UTH. It's actually one of the recommended methods of increasing humidity in the enclosure.

Thermostat for UTH. Heat lamp is on 12hrs a day. The UTH doesn't seem to help much heat wise. I have cypress mulch for bedding. UTH is set at 91. The heat lamp is on a thermostat too. My room temp is 72. I would love to just use the UTH. But it alone doesn't warm the tank enough.

All of my water bowls are either over, or partially over the UTH's.

Where are you measuring the temperature at, and with what?

Remember, our body heat is higher than 91 degrees, so the UTH isn't going to feel as warm as you might think. If you have a temp gun, measure it right on top of the glass (or plastic if you're using a tub), then on top of the substrate. You might have to fiddle a bit with the amount of substrate and the setting on the thermostat to get the desired temp.

As for the water bowl, over the UTH is usually considered best.

Digital thermometer with the probe under the mulch. So it's right ontop of the UTH.
