My son has been asking for a snake, so naturally, I have been reading and researching different kinds to get. The obvious choices were Corn snake or Ball Python. I chose the BP because it doesn't seem to be as curious and active as the corn. So, I just bought a new Ball Python, and hiding him from my son till xmas. I have a lot to learn, and I want to get comfortable around him (or her) as well as the BP to be comfortable with us, before my son gets him.

It has helped a tremendous amount just reading posts, questions I never thought to ask and answers that are very genuine and detailed. I know that i have a lot to learn (like, what do the numbers by a sig mean "0.2.3 Ball Python"?) a long way to go. I will be feeding him for the first time Friday and am a bit nervous for that.

    Here he/she? is:

Hey! Welcome to BP-net! I'm a fellow newbie as well, and will be getting my first soon. Everybody here seems to be super nice, and very informative and helpfull. I am sure you will like it here!

    As for those numbers:

1.2.3 is a way of saying how many Males (first number), females (second), and unsexed (third) animals you have of the same group.

For instance: If I said: 3.2.6 Goldfish, that means I have 3 male goldfish, 2 female goldfish, and 6 goldfish of unknown genders. <3
