Cypress or paper?

Is cypress better than paper? What about for breeding? Is it possible for the cypress to get stuck in the males cloaca during breeding?

Cypress stays damp and promotes great humidity but the downside during breeding season if your dropping temps is that it can cause resp issues because of the damp nature of it. Paper is the best route to go in my oppinion.

I dont know I am going to be changing from paper to cypress.... Cant stand the mess that is made of paper every time water is spilt ect.. In my experience aspen or cypress is easier to keep clean

Exactly cypruss is easier to keep clean and holds humidity well. I don't know but I do know Brian from bhb uses cypruss but the again I don't want respiratory issues.

I use cypress during the year but once i start night dropping i switch to paper. The reason it seems that aspen or cypress is easier to clean is because you can spot clean. But your not able to spot clean the liquid. Just the solids. They will still be able to spill water with cypress. Problem is the cypress tends to get to wet therefore you have to replace the cypress often. It is cheaper to do paper if you have multiple animals. But keep in mind if you are using cypress and dropping temps then you will have a better chance for resp due to the cool damp temps that ate created when night dropping. If you breed without night dropping then you dont have to qorry about it much. Cypress is the closest substrate to their natural habbitat thats easiest to use in captive settings.
