That is cute… when they are that small . I had an adult male get inside one of those tough ones while I was cleaning/watching it and it took me about an hour to cut him out lol

Shes not that small. 500 grams roughly. It's a tube from a roll of shrink wrap. I was trying to cut it in half for my rats earlier, but got tired of trying. She went off the bed into it, so I put it on the bed for her. She is still hanging out in it.

Yeah, my guys seem to find tubes irresistible. It's like they look at them and think: "Hey, it's a cylinder! I'm a cylinder! I gotta check this out."

So now I actually cut up cardboard packing tubes and use them as low-cost hides in my racks. I suspect we could revolutionize venomous snake control with packing tubes...

Can someone tell me where I can find a tube big enough for a 1500 gram bp? ahah
When my bp was young he would go into the paper towel rolls. It was so cute :P
But he is too big now :[ My snake tube days are over lol

Well... I wasn't going to get my snake a Christmas present. But! This sounds like a great idea! I'm excited.
I don't know what it is about snakes and those cardboard tubes but. They sure love them.

The trick is to either only use tubes that are large enough that they can't wedge themselves in there so tightly that you can't get them out...

... or just wait for them to get bored. They always come out on their own, eventually. If they get really cozy or are having a nervous attack, that could be a full day later. But usually mine come out if I put the tube+snake someplace interesting. Like a bookshelf.

And if you get tired of waiting for them, you can just put them back in the tank, tube and all.

(But I generally use cut-up packing tubes because I can always push them out if I really want/need to.)

:) It's a lot of fun. But if you want to use them as hides, remember:

1.) they're hard to cut. I like 12-18" segments, but even with an Xacto knife it's too much work. I go straight for the hack saw now.

2.) If you use them as hides instead of just as entertainment, the snake will eventually get SOOOOO comfortable that he/she will wee in there. If it's not too bad I'll let them keep the tube... but eventually they do have to get thrown away. It's the same problem as with cardboard box hides: you can't wash it, so sooner or later you have to pitch it.
