    RHP placement question
I've ordered a RHP and was wondering...while I wait for my eventual permanent cages to arrive, could I use it on top of the screen top of my aquarium? The RHP is 11x16 and the top is 12x30. I'd sure like to use the RHP instead of the ceramic heat emitter.
If not, I suppose I could cut out the screen underneath the actual RHP surface.

    Re: RHP placement question
I honestly have no idea. I don't think I've heard of anyone using a RHP on top of a screen, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done. If you decide to try it, let know how it works out... :gj:

I use RHP's in my Leo tanks, I have attached them to the screen tops. I poked tiny holes in the screen and mounted them on the underside, using a lot of washers in case the screen tears! I poked a hole for the cord too.
So, from top to bottom, they have a sheet of plexiglass, screen top and then the RHP. I've had no problems, works really well.
I will take a pic later if that will help...lol.

I placed mine right on top of the screen. It worked fine.

Thanks so much for the non-judgemental feedback! I say that because I did talk to a seller of RHP's (tho not about this question) and was somewhat chastised for using aquariums. He was of a mind that I should already have my custom-made PVC cages. For me, that's a couple months off yet...

Gonna hook it up today, give it a chance till Sunday for outgassing, then test it on my smaller, unoccupied tank so I can get temps right before moving it over my little girl.
