So we got a ball python at the Reptile convention last weekend. We brought him home and put him in his tank and left him alone. I fed him today and he ate a mouse hopper then still seemed really hungry so I fed him a small mouse fuzzy as well. I weighed him before feeding and he weighs 64 grams and is 17 inches long. are hoppers ok for his size? I am trying to find someplace that sells rat fuzzies and pups.

Congratulations! And yes, small mouse hoppers or medium rat pinks should be fine.

Typically many believe that feeding 10% - 15% of the snakes weight is a correct amount since you have a scale it makes things easier. I am sure that if you do some digging you will find either a feeder rodent breeder locally or a store or person whom orders large orders and breaks them down.

    Yep!

All my snakes (I didn't breed them but have their feeding charts) started off on either rat fuzzies or mice hoppers. They all graduated to rat pups/adult mice (depending on which store I went to and availability at the time) after a month or so. Then came 2 pups a serving..I was about to switch my super pastel and bumblebee to small rats, but now have plans to start an ASF colony in the next couple weeks, thanks to a friend hooking me up with a breeder from our local herp society.
