Boaphile Cage Question...
I just recently purchased some used Boaphiles. I definitely need to do a little work on them. The first thing is that the latches and hinge hardware are all corroded. I am hoping that Boaphile Plastics will just sell me some replacements. Has anyone else noticed this, or had a problem with this on their Boaphile cages? I have no idea what type of snakes were previously kept in them or exactly what kind of conditions they may have been stored in as far as high humidity levels.
Secondly, on one cage, the seam where the top and back pieces join is separated. Is there any particular type of glue or epoxy that will work best for re-joining it?
Thanks for any input or suggestions.
Re: Boaphile Cage Question...
My latches corroded over time and I took them completely apart and soaked the pieces in CLR for 30 min then used a wire brush to clean them, and worked well. I have the black hinges so I had no issue with those. I would call Boaphile and ask about the epoxy, or you may be able to screw it together.
Re: Boaphile Cage Question...
I finally got the latches clean by soaking them in CLP, which is an oil used to remove carbon from gun barrels, and a wire brush. Then I soaked them in Isopropyl Alcohol to remove the oil residue. For the seam that had come apart, I used a cyanoacrylate adhesive to re-bond the pieces together.
