RE: Help with building a incubator....

Wanted to see if anyone would post some pix of their pepsi/coke cooler incubators. Wanted to see what you use as far as amount of flexwatt. Type of fan, How you wire in the fan and do you use a thermal mass in this type of incubator. Working on picking up a coke cooler and needed some help with setting it up when I get it.....Thanks.......

There are a lot of examples in the DIY forum. Most people just tape some 11 inch flexwatt along the inside walls of the fridge using aluminum tape. As for fans, computer fans work fine, one on top and one on the bottom. Most important part would be the thermostat. I use herpstats.

Here's mine.
It has two 30 inch pieces of 11x12 in flexwatt, one per side wall wired into one plug in going to the thermostat.

It has a bathroom ceiling fan picked up at home depot, it has a plug in already attached, I plugged it directly into a zoo-med rheostat to control the fan speed, which allows you to fine tune the temperature shelf to shelf.
IMO computer fans are not close to strong enough to work in a large inc.

My older coke cooler ran one piece of flexwatt down the back with the same fan set up, works great still.

Thanks for your help, I will look into a bathroom fan , looks like a very good idea. I too was thinking computer fans would not be enough..
