Temp Gradients

Hey guys, This is my sketch of how my enclosure will be, Will the UTH throw off enough heat for the cool side? or will I have to put a lamp on the cool side as well? http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/.../Diagram-1.png

That drawing doesn't have nearly enough info to determine that. How big is the enclosure...it could be the size of a shoe box or as big as a house...

What size UTH are you using? What is the enclosure made of?

Err, sorry bout that. I was posting in a rush. It's gonna be a 10 gallon glass aquarium while he's little, going to be getting a baby/ small. 10-20 gallon UTH (Zoo med). Once again, sorry, Forgot to put in the details.

It should be fine, depending on how cold you keep your house, you may or may not need a low watt bulb or CHE on a dimmer for the winter...depending on where you live. I usually use a lamp on a dimmer on low in the winter to help with ambient temps in my drafty house...

I'm actually right near you, in RI. I'll try it without, and if it gets too cold I'll do the same as you. Thanks for the help!

All my tanks (2) are 20 gallon long and much bigger than your 10 gallon. You may not need any lamps, unless your house is abnormally cold. And hiya neighbor ;)

Lol, hiya. I'll be upgrading to a 20 long, but I already have a 10, and I thought a 20 would be too much for him, BPs being all scared and such :P
