Do ball pythons have mood swings?

I noticed my snake has good days, and bad days. Some days he'll be roaming around all over the place, and other days he just sits on my lap and hardly moves for hours. is that normal?

He has a gf. She hurts his feeling a lot... xD

Sounds like normal ball behavior. At least those mood swings aren't for the worse. I've got a few balls that can be the sweetest snakes one day and the next day they will hiss and strike and throw their bodies at you.

No mood swings here there sweet all the time

My girls all PMS regularly, so I'm gonna say yes to the mood swings. Of course, I have a couple of boys who PMS too! :P

I'd say about 90% of the time, my guys are all sweet as can be unless they are shedding. But even when not in blue, at least half of them get crabby for no apparent reason, and enjoy re-arranging their tubs while they are at it.

My girl has been consistently tame, only struck at my mom once a day before feeding because mom had some food scent on her. Mine also roams some days when shes out others she sits still, it seems like depending on if i wake her up/when i get her out or the temperature of the room determines her level of activity

I give my little girl paper towel rolls (she LOVES them, shes always in it) but she also enjoys pushing it into her water bowl and getting it soaked :rolleyes:

I think Maru's 'mood swings' all depend on a couple different things--if he was napping when I took him out, if he's hungry, if he was already stressed out from something else, and if there are a lot of new sights and smells.

His moods range from sweet and active to extremely shy. You can tell when he's been asleep, because as we pull out the tub we hear a sad little scared hiss! We startled him! He'll be shy and hiding the whole time we have him out for cleaning. Other times he's calm and alert already as we pull out the tub, and he doesn't hiss. Those days he is fine and active when we let him out.

Completly normal behavior.

A bp's mood and the amount of activity they are showing arecan be 2 completly differnt things. There are many differnt reasons as to why they might be more active some days then others. Example: if they are colder they might move around less. On feeding days some bps might get more active once they smell the rodent. Some people might argue that their "mood" is them becoming hungry but really it is just their instinct kicking in not a mood change.
