    Should I keep this pinstripe?
I got a small female pin last week from a reptile shop where a buddy of mine is the manager. He told me it was eating fine. Yesterday I went to go buy a rat hopper and the other guy who works there told me pretty much "Oh by the way we've had to assist feed that girl." I was kind of surprised.

When I told my friend he was surprised and said she had taken live prey from him and didn't know they other guy had assist fed it and seemed kind of mad that he did. They have a pretty strict no return/exchange policy but my buddy is a good guy and said I could bring it back to get a different snake but he also said most of the time they can be assisted a few time and then start taking meals on their own.

He said I could wait it out to see if she eats and if she doesn't or if I just want to, bring it back. In your experience should I try and wait it out to see if the snake comes around or am I looking for trouble and should go get a proven eater.

To be honest with you it would be based on your comfort level with it. If you have never had the experience of getting babies up and eating I would offer it food, and take it back if it doesnt feed since "your buddy" said it was a good eater. If you have some experience with it give it a try. Do they have something else that you are interested in @ the same price, and can you trust them after this? ( you have to decide that I am not by any means trying to tel you not to trust them, could be a simple misunderstanding) Just weigh your pros and cons the obvious answer will come to you. What I would do may not be what you would do or what someone else would do.

First, I absolutely trust them. I just believe It was a miscommunication between the 2. my friend sold me the snake and wasn't there a week later when I went to buy food. The Guy who I bought the rat from wasn't there when I bought the snake.

My main question is since I am fairly new. Is assist feeding a normal thing and something most babies grow out of. I want to breed so its something I will need to know how to do. I just don't want to have bought a snake who will never eat on its own. They have aa nice female albino I like too but would rather have the pin.

PS when he put the rat Hopper in the mouth the snake topology it right down.

I think you should give a shot at feeding it and see how it feeds, then make a decision from there. I was sold an extremely skinny and small snake recently that DEFINITELY looks like it hasn't fed... but it was at a discount, and I saw the snake as I was buying, so it was expected. She refused her fuzzy rat last week, so I decided to get her a smaller one (it was seriously the size of a small mouse hopper) and left it in her 6 qt tub overnight in the dark. She took it by the morning. It might work if you try that with your snake... just make sure the prey size doesn't intimidate her! A little smaller than normal could help with her self-esteem (so to speak).
