    Oak Toxic to Reptiles?
I was on Reptilechannel and they had a list of all the plant species toxic to reptiles. One of them that was listed was Oak. This concerns me becuase I have pieces of oak in my animals cages for looks and for them to shed on. I got the wood from a fire wood pile last winter, I sanded and treated them and then baked them in the oven to kill anything. So far nothing effects them.

    Anyone know of this?

    Hi,

Did they mean oak might be toxic if swallowed?

I've certainly never heard of it causing problems as either a building material or as cage decor.

Are they talking about plain old dry oak lumber or tannins that leach out of waterlogged oak?

They didn't specify anything. It was just this long list of plant names.
