Stargazing?

I can't remember the name of that crazy bad BP disease, but I only have 5 minutes of internet left and I'm a little freaked... what does stargazing look like? I caught Jackson today just staring straight up for about 5 minutes, until I walked toward him and he jumped. Does that sound bad?

ibd, i cant remember what it stands for though, one way to test is to lay it down on its back, and if it CANT correct itself, thats supposed to be a symptom

"stargazing" is normally not defined well for newer owners and has nothing to do with what looks like actual stargazing, as you stated, staring straight up. Jackson was probably just hungry or curious. Stargazing in all actuality is far more serious and looks nothing like this.

is this towards me or blueberry? cause all ive read on it was a quick thread on rtb.com, an dthis is basically what they said, im just trying to make sure i dont misinform anyone

Ever seen a video of a bad spider ball python wobble? Stargazing is a lot like that, but more extreme. If Jackson was just staring upwards I wouldn't worry. If he cannot control his movements or right himself, that is a problem. A symptom of inclusion body disease (IBD) is stargazing.

Actually, stargazing is also a sign of possible RI. So don't be worried about IBD, with the cold weather I'd be more concerned about an RI than anything. Listen to his breathing, check ur tub for mucous

Thanks so much!! He is able to right himself, he just freaked me out a little 'cause I hadn't seen him do that for so long before. And he wouldn't move until I startled him. He wasn't rested against anything, just staring with his head straight up. But the hungry thing was probably right on, this was last night and today is feeding day!

His breathing is completely normal, however I have been a little worried about him getting an RI during the winter time. He's totally healthy now, but what are some preventative measures I can take?

keep his ambient temps around 75-80 (80 is better) and keep the enclosure clean. if your using some sort of wood chip bedding dont just spot clean, get everything that is soiled cuz bacteria with a cold snake who doesnt have much of an immune system due to the cold is a bad idea.

As stated after me, it is a more severe wobble. You have nothing to worry about. My snakes do it constantly.

Ball Pythons do not live very long with ibd, boas can be carriers if they get it and will either die of it or live their entire lives carrying it.
